Family Centres

Every year throughout the Diocese Centacare provides a wide range of professional services for thousands of children, young people, families, individuals and communities, from a number of locations. Since 2004 many of these services have been clustered together in groups of specialist teams, supporting a Family Centre approach. Family Centres enable Centacare staff to provide an integrated system of care and intervention- when assistance is needed in a particular area there are sometimes other associated needs which can then be met via smooth introduction to the appropriate care worker, in the same location and under the same “roof”. This “one stop shop” approach reduces the need for people to tell their story over and over again. Programs in each of the five currently existing Centacare Family Centres reflect the needs of their local community, and also have close links with other community based agencies. So if a Centacare program can’t help-one of the staff will certainly know of another agency that can!
