Broken Bay Forum for Laity
The Forum for Laity was established by Bishop David Walker to examine, review and, as applicable, make recommendations to him on issues relating to the role of the laity within the Catholic Church in Broken Bay.
The Forum aims to be a conduit for information from the people, parishes, groups and schools in the Diocese, and to the Bishop and Curia to ensure that all Catholics have the opportunity to participate in the life of the church in our Diocese.
There are two ways that the forum gains feedback and information from the laity of the Diocese:
1. Consultation
From time to time (at least annually) the Forum will seek information regarding specific issues relating to the role of the laity. This consultation may take the form of focus groups, surveys or interviews conducted in parishes and parish groups to ensure that a wide range of viewpoints are considered.
2. Email/Letter
At any time the Forum welcomes information from both individuals and groups that may highlight issues for further consideration. The Forum is interested in positive feedback on areas where it is considered that the laity is taking an active role in the parish, or if there are practices which enhance the parish/spiritual life of the laity. This information will be fed back to the Bishop so that they may be shared amongst other parishes for the benefit of all the faithful in the Diocese.
The Forum also welcomes feedback from individuals and groups on areas of concern regarding relationships, policies and practices that may be inhibiting the participation and activity of the laity in parish life. Any contact of this nature with the Forum will be treated in the strictest of confidence and submissions may be anonymous. All feedback submitted is given equal and due consideration by the committee.
