The Diocese of Broken Bay featured on ABC's Stateline program on Friday 28 February, 2014 in a story showing the Diocese's support of the short film A Priest in the Family.

Diocesan Administrator Fr Vince Casey was interviewed by Stateline's Sharon O'Neill about how the film will be used to initiate discussion on sexual abuse in the Catholic Church and how it affects not only the victims but the whole Church community.

The Diocese of Broken Bay has a new Catholic Secondary School at Lake Munmorah. St Brigid’s Catholic College is now open with 66 Year 7 students and seven teachers starting the new school year on Carters Road, right across the road from St Brendan’s Catholic School and the parish.

Founding Principal Julie Terry has been in the teaching professions for 30 years and is keen to help to bring the new school community together under the school motto of Inflaming Hearts and Minds in Christ.

Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, with Fr Vince Casey presiding, provided a fitting venue for the installation of Broken Bay parishioners, Carolyn Metcalfe as President and Pauline O’Malley as Treasurer of the new National Executive of Catholic Women’s League Australia.

Joining them for the prayerful installation ceremony were the wife of the Australian Prime Minister, Margie Abbott, the NSW State Member for Hornsby Matt Kean MP, the Mayor of Hornsby Steve Russell and Catholic Women’s League members from across Australia.

Fr Paul Durkin was installed as the eleventh Parish Priest of St Agatha’s, Pennant Hills at the Vigil Mass on Saturday 8th February. Fr Vince Casey, Administrator of the Diocese and a former Parish Priest of St Agatha’s, presided at the Mass and presented Fr Paul to the people as their new Parish Priest.

Fr Dennis Callahan, another former Parish priest of St Agatha’s, and other visiting priests, joined the celebration and some members of Fr Paul’s family were present.
