St John Paul II, hailed as the Pope of the Family, created the World Meeting of Families in 1994 in Rome to explore the critical role the family plays in society and to give families opportunities to talk about the challenges and blessings that all families have.

The World Meeting of Families is held every three years and families from all over the world are invited by the Holy Father to attend this global gathering. In 2015 the World Meeting of families will be held in Philadelphia, USA, in September and the theme is, “Love Is Our Mission: The Family Fully Alive”.

In July a group of thirteen Year 11 students from St Leo’s experienced the peace and hospitality of the Benedictine Abbey at Jamberoo on a three-day retreat.

“Nothing can compare to this experience, my relationship with God grew and I felt my spirituality flourish,” reported one student, Bethany. They joined the nuns in their beautiful chapel for the singing of the Liturgy of the Hours as well as their daily Mass.

MacKillop Catholic College, is delighted and proud of Yr 12 student, Jack Cogger who Captained the NSW U18 State of Origin Team against the Queensland U18 State of Origin Team on Wednesday 17 June at the MCG in Melbourne.

The team lost narrowly to Queensland but from our College's perspective we saw a very capable leader in Jack Cogger orchestrating some excellent rugby league.

Past Student of St Leo's Catholic College, Wahroonga, Emma Baynie (College Captain 2007) recently met Pope Francis at the 2015 International Conference of the International Council of Christians and Jews.

Emma attended the Conference held in Rome from 28 June - 1 July, on the auspicious occasion of the 50th Anniversary of Nostra Aetate. The conference focussed on the past, present and future of the Christian-Jewish Relationship, and will be of assistance Emma's doctoral studies in this field.
