‘Migrants and refugees need our special attention and care, as they are our brothers and sisters’, Bishop Vincent Long said today as he released a parish kit celebrating the 101st World Day of Migrants and Refugees.

Bishop Vincent Long Van Nguyen ofm conv is the Bishop Delegate for Migrants and Refugees.

The Catholic Church in Australia has dedicated the month of August to creating awareness of migration, which will culminate with the celebration of the 101st World Day of Migrants and Refugees on Sunday 30 August 2015. The Australian Catholic Migrant and Refugee Office has made a pastoral resource kit available to assist parishes in celebrating the Day.

Parishes across the Diocese of Broken Bay recently celebrated with their pilgrims the World Youth Day #365daystogo until Krakow 2016.

Pilgrims were blessed by their Parish Priest and their fundraising initiatives were kickstarted for what will be a life-making experience.

Bishop Peter Comensoli wants to take 500 people from the Broken Bay Diocese to World Youth Day in Krakow, Poland next year.

Bishop Peter Comensoli made his first visit to Mt St Benedict College, Pennant Hills on Wednesday 5 August to meet the school community.

Bishop Peter’s visit began in informal conversation with a number of students who spoke about various initiatives in the College and shared some of their experiences of life at MSB.

Recently the children of St Patrick's Catholic School Asquith enjoyed a mug of warm chicken noodle soup for lunch, all in aid of raising money for the St Vincent de Paul Winter Appeal.

The Year 4 MAG team (Mercy Action Group) organised the soup day and the children brought in a gold coin donation. The children raised $374 and enjoyed a mug of warm soup, knowing that their efforts were going toward helping people in need.

Our Lady of The Rosary, Wyoming Mini Vinnies recently conducted a ‘Winter Appeal’ through their school community via raffles and a ‘can of soup’ drive to help others less fortunate in their area to rebuild lives. The proceeds are given to the Wyoming conference of the St Vincent de Paul Society to assist those in need without judgment.
