The Parish of Epping and Carlingford have a wonderful relationship with other churches in the local area, and in fact have a signed covenant. The covenant gives a formal expression to many of the joint activities that are shared by the churches and a commitment to continue these activities.
The covenant is between the Catholic Parish of Epping and Carlingford, the Anglican Parish of Epping, Chester Street Uniting Church in Epping, the West Epping Uniting Church and the Carlingford Baptist Church and was signed in December 2008.
The churches in the covenant group share a series of five weekly Ecumenical Liturgies during the Season of Lent. There is also a liturgy at Pentecost and in Advent. The clergy from the Churches preach to their neighbouring congregations once each year as well as an annual joint sitting of the Parish Councils of each Church in the covenant group.
The Ecumenical groups also partake in the Carols in the park in December, Food for Thought – regular lunch gatherings with guest speakers discussing relevant issues, Taize group, which is prayerful chants developed by an ecumenical community in France, as well as the social justice group Together in Epping (TIE).
