A Diocesan Synod is an opportunity for the people of the Diocese of Broken Bay to come together to lay the foundations for the future direction of the Diocese. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments that have been achieved under the direction of our pastoral plans, and to recognise the giftedness and the diversity of our people.
As we celebrate 25 years as a Diocese, Bishop David Walker has called a Synod for the Diocese of Broken Bay with a focus on:
- Celebrating the past
- Engaging with the present
- Envisioning the future
The Synod's First Major Gathering was held in June 2011 and will conclude with the Second Gathering in May 2012. In the next year there will be more consultation, including discussion and feedback from a wide cross section of the community of the faithful as together we look to shape the way that our Diocese and parishes can best support the people of the Diocese in living their call to holiness.
