Looking to the Future in Broken Bay
My message today is an important one. It will have significant influence on the pastoral care within the Diocese, and on those who exercise it. To understand this fully, it will be necessary to reflect back on where we have come from as a Diocese, and where we are now.
I encourage you to read the following three articles that have appeared in the official Diocesan publication – The Broken Bay News. Each one outlines aspects of a new model of Parish leadership that will enhance and enrich the pastoral care that is offered to the people of Broken Bay.
I also warmly welcome any feedback or questions that you may have. At the bottom of this page there is an email address that you can make responses to, or alternatively please call my Office on (02) 9847 0226.
I believe that the next few years will be a time of great discovery and creativity in the Diocese, and that those parishes which engage with this new venture will be making a great contribution to all our parishes. As we approach the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council, we will be learning new ways to foster the spiritual development of the faithful, and how to share that faith life with the people of our society. I ask your prayers for this venture, and your co-operation in bringing it about.
Yours sincerely in Christ,
Bishop David L. Walker DD
