Welcoming the
 ROMAN
 MISSAL
 THIRD EDITION

The Roman Missal is the large book used at Mass and contains the prayers of the Mass On 25 March 2010, a new English translation of the Roman Missal was approved in Rome. The Australian Catholic Bishop’s Conference will select a date, probably in 2011, for parishes to commence using the new text.

Different words!   Same Mass!

The way the Mass is celebrated will not change.
There will be some changes to the responses and prayers which we use at Mass.

For example, when the priest greets the people saying, The Lord be with you, the people will respond, And with your spirit.

There will also be changes to the words of the Gloria and the Creed. Many of the prayers said by the priest will follow more literally the original Latin from which our English prayers are translated. Revised music will be used for the parts of the Mass

This year, in June, the priests of the Diocese will begin studying the new texts, growing in understanding of the best way of leading the assembly as we worship at Mass.

The Diocesan Liturgy Commission will be making resources available to help parishes learn about the new translation and deepen their understanding and experience of Sunday Eucharist.

Keep informed by following notices in Parish bulletins and here on the Diocesan website.

…..deepening...nurturing...celebrating…..
