Broken Bay Youth Summit 2011
Discerning the Future for Youth Ministry in the Diocese of Broken Bay
An Invitation from Bishop David L. Walker DD
Bishop for Broken Bay
I would like to invite you to join me in discerning the future for Youth Ministry in the Diocese of Broken Bay by attending the Broken Bay Youth Summit 2011, which will take place at the Caroline Chisholm Centre, Pennant Hills on Saturday,
3 December 2011 from 12pm-4pm.
We have been blessed with many different expressions of youth ministry in the Diocese. The recent WYD experiences, the response to the Internship program, and many successful parish-based programs, are just some examples. I would like to build on these foundations to really make a concerted effort to raise our goals by sponsoring a Youth Summit so that those with a passion for youth and youth ministry can gather and assist me in discerning what this concerted effort might look like.
We also recently completed two reviews on youth ministry which provide some important thinking on how we approach youth ministry in the Diocese. The reviews can be found on this web page.
Whilst all with an interest in youth and youth ministry are welcome, I have particularly invited:
· Parish youth ministers
· School youth ministers
· Previous Parish Interns
· Year 12 students (2012)
· Priests
· Principals and REC’s
Part of our agenda for the Summit will include:
· What are you saying to us? (see below)
· What are we hearing?
· What’s working for you in your parish/community? How does this differ from other parishes/communities?
· What’s your vision for youth in our Diocese in the future?
· Where do we proceed to from here and how?
If you are interested in telling the gathering your ideas or proposals, please contact Pauline Finch on 9847 0444 or email pauline.finch@dbb.org.au so that time can be allocated on the Summit’s agenda for your input.
The agenda will be distributed by 28 November.
I hope that you will be able to join us in determining the future of youth and youth ministry in our Diocese.
