Pope Francis: The Joy of the Gospel

“I prefer a Church which is bruised, hurting and dirty because it has been out on the streets, rather than a Church which is unhealthy from being confined and from clinging to its own security” (Evangelii Gaudium, #49)

Pope Francis’ leadership style has already had an extraordinary impact on the world. It is often observed that he has a certain way of cutting through the ‘church speak’ and moving people to think and act in fresh ways. A good example of this is his document Evangelii Gaudium: ‘Joy of the Gospel’.

Read it here at the Vatican website.

Within and beyond our Diocese of Broken Bay a number of initiatives have sprung up to assist people in exploring ‘The Joy of the Gospel’:

  • "The Joy of the Gospel" - 30 April and 7 May 2015, presented by Geraldine Doogue AO, Rev Dr David Ranson, Dr Michele Connolly rsj and Hon Justice Francois Kunc (Parishes of Sydney Harbour North & Our Lady of the Way North Sydney)
