When we sing our praise to God we pray twice.
St Augustine
Do you know that liturgical music and praying in song has been with us from the very beginnings of the Christian Church? Likewise, many of us will have rich memories of the sung Masses of our childhood.
St Patrick’s Choir consists of about 15 members and is lovingly conducted by Eileen Moffat, with Avril Julius providing the wonderful organ accompaniment.
We have great joy in singing regularly at the 9am Mass on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month, and the major celebrations of Easter and Christmas. We strive to accommodate everyone’s taste in music and sing a selection of traditional and modern music.
Ecumenism is strong in this parish and we like to do our bit by accompanying the Pentecost and Advent services, at our church and in others as well.
We are a family within the parish family, supporting each and all, and deriving happiness serving God and the community in this ministry, and we like to gather socially once a year for our special Christmas celebration.
If you love singing why not walk up the stairs and join us – no audition and no member-ship fees. Just the joy of being with like spirits singing praise to God.
We are not ageist, are you?
Our choir especially needs ‘young blood’ to ensure its continuation, but if you bother to climb the stairs, you will be joyfully welcomed.
