The Weekday Hospital Visitation Team visits Gosford District Hospital each Friday and has been doing so since 1980.
Usually around 5 members of the team visit each week to cover visiting the Catholic patients in the 6 Medical and 4 surgical wards.
We visit an average of 60 patients each Friday and of those, some want just a chat, some see it as an opportunity to renew their relationship with the Church and ask to have a priest visit, and some request to have communion brought to them on Sundays, courtesy of our Sunday Hospital visitation team.
Those who we visit are often very grateful for this contact with the Church and we leave them a prayer card which we have often been told, has helped them immensely through their time of trial.
The Sunday Hospital Visitation Team is privileged to have the opportunity of taking Holy Communion to the sick in Gosford Hospital.
Many Catholic hospital patients request Holy Communion in their time of sickness, loss, grief and lack of independence.
Each Sunday two Hospital Visitation Team members minister to these patients, usually numbering between 10 and 22. Each team visits about every ten weeks.
'When I was sick, you visited me.'
Taking Communion to our people in hospital is a joy for us, and a special time for them.
