It is not intended only for those who are dying and cannot be administered to someone who is already dead. It is therefore important that, when someone is seriously ill and who may be dying, the priest is called as soon as possible so that he may administer the sacrament to the sick person whilst he is still able to do so. 

In an emergency, a priest may be contacted by telephoning Gosford Hospital who will page the priest who is on call. 

This Sacrament is also celebrated within Mass on the First Friday of each month at 12.00 noon.
