The Caring Service assists the Parish community in many wonderful ways - Ministry of the Eucharist, Visitation and Home Help program, Transport and the Soup Kitchen. Over the years we have been able to help a large number of people due to the wonderful group of Volunteers who gave their time so generously to this work.
Our work for the Caring Service includes some of the following:
Ministry of the Eucharist
On Sunday mornings we commission Parishioners to take communion to those who are unable to attend Mass who are in Hospitals, Nursing Homes and in private homes.
Home Help and Visitings
Involves home care, visiting and shopping on a small scale. At present a number of our Parishioners have been referred to Aged Care Assessment Team and are being looked after by these people.
Transport
Taking someone to Mass, shopping, doctors and Hospitals on a small scale.
Soup Kitchen
We join with other Churches to provide warm healthy meals for those not able to provide for themselves. At present we attend the soup kitchen at the Salvation Army Hall on Wednesdays.
