Baptism is the first sacrament of Christian initiation. Catholic families are encouraged to baptise their children soon after birth, however sometimes people are baptised later, or even as adults.
Infant Baptism
Infant baptisms are scheduled at Manly Freshwater Parish usually twice a month. Couples are asked to attend a Baptism Program which consists of two sessions held on the 1st and 2nd Sunday of the Month in the Parish Centre, Manly.
Prior to the Baptism we will hold a Welcoming Ceremony where your family will be introduced to the Parish community on the following days:
•MANLY – 3rd Sunday of the month during the 10:30am Mass at Manly with the Baptism being held at 12 noon on the 4th Sunday of the month.
•FRESHWATER – 4th Sunday of the month during the 9:00am Mass at Freshwater with the Baptism held at 12 noon on the 2nd Sunday of the following month.
To enrol your baby for baptism, please complete Infant Baptism Form and return the completed form to the parish office as soon as possible.
Someone from the parish will then contact you to confirm the time and arrangements.

Kids' Baptism (5-11 years)
Baptisms for children aged 5-11 are usually scheduled quarterly twice a year. The children prepare via their own special program and this process takes 4weeks.

Adult Baptism
Adult baptisms usually take place at Easter, although they can take place at other times of the year too. Adults preparing for baptism have their own process of learning and growing in faith. This is the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.).
It is a flexible process which typically takes 6-12 months.
