Welcome to the parish of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop, located on the upper Central Coast between Wyong and Toukley. The area is a vibrant community of new housing developments attracting both young families and retirees to the Central Coast lifestyle.
We are a new parish community – begun in 2003 – and as such, we are still developing a parish way of life that nourishes the hearts and lives of people here on the Central Coast. Over that short time, land has been bought, a Church and College have been built and a new Parish and College community has begun to emerge and claim its own identity. Your contribution to the building up of this faith community is both vital and necessary.
We are privileged to have St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Australia’s first saint, as our patron. Her vocation was to “never see a need without doing something about it.” The Parish enjoys a unique relationship with MacKillop Catholic College. We share a vision of becoming one communion of faith, united by the same mission, a common history and a fierce desire to work together as one.
Many parishioners are building a deep loyalty to this vision of Parish and College as one communion of faith and setting down their roots in the faith family that takes its inspiration from our first Australian Saint. Many new people are moving into the area and discovering the Parish as a place of prayer, welcome, inclusion and pastoral support. Many find in MacKillop College a wonderful campus for the education, faith development and pastoral care of their children. There is justifiable pride in what has been achieved in just a few years.
Throughout the parish, more than 650 people attend Mass each week and, of these, more than 100 are actively involved in ministry, either in outreach groups to the needy, in liturgy and music, in State Schools as catechists, with the sick and elderly, with children, youth, sacramental teams and prayer groups, in maintenance, fundraising and administration - to mention but a few. We have a sister parish in Uganda and support the building and maintenance of their new pre-school classrooms. We are indeed a parish in mission: young and old working together to make real the love of Christ for all we meet.
We pray that you will find a parish community of faith-filled people already living the gospel of Jesus Christ. We pray, too, that we will become, even more, a community which will welcome you warmly, enrich you spiritually, care for you pastorally, as well as challenge you to grow your faith and commitment as a disciple of Christ.
Please take your time to enjoy the parish and we hope this website will enrich your belonging to the parish community and the development of your life as a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Every blessing to you and your family.
