To promote a smooth transition from preschool to school, the Buddy Program establishes social networks by introducing Kindergarten children to Year 6 school buddies. The Buddy Program promotes a sense of community and belonging to the school.
The Buddy Program aims to:
- develop social networks (Protective Behaviours)
- build resilience
- promote acceptance of others
- build self esteem
- provide social and academic benefits for students
- provide mentoring opportunities
- provide leadership opportunities
- promote cross gender and cross age friendships
- foster a sense of fun and enjoyment in learning.
