Band
The school has a Concert and a Training Band. Any child who is beginning to learn an instrument will join the Training Band. Year 3 students will usually remain in the Training Band for the entire year. Older students will be moved into the Concert Band as soon as the Band Director feels they have reached the required standard. The bands usually rehearse at separate times but there will be some overlap. This way the members of the Concert Band can act as mentors for members of the Training Band.
The Maria Regina Band Committee co-ordinates all activities concerning the school bands. Tuition is an essential component of being in the band. The Band Director and Band Committee Tutor Liaison will assist in securing a tutor for your child. The bands perform at various school, parish and community functions and events. An annual band camp is attended by all band students.
The school bands are also involved in the Marana Music Festival and the Yamaha Music Festival.
Music Evenings
Maria Regina hold music performance evenings in the school hall. This provides students an opportunity to showcase their ability and enables the Concert Band, Training Band and school choir to perform. There are also individual performances on woodwind, brass, percussion and stringed instruments.
