Maria Regina students displaying school uniform

Maria Regina Primary School opened on 2 February 1959 with an enrolment of 65 pupils from Grades 1-4, soon expanding to K-6. The first Principal was Sister Audrey McCabe, a Good Samaritan Sister. The initial building, facing Central Road, was originally used as the church. The second building was opened in 1978 and the third building in 1991. In 1993 there were major excavations and landscaping to extend the playground area. As recently as 2002 a new building replaced the original building. This building includes a learning resource centre, school hall, resource room, and staff room and administration area. Further landscaping of playground areas has brought this major project to conclusion.

Library
Maria Regina Catholic School has a library with a large selection of books and learning resources available for students to borrow. The library caters for all levels and abilities through selection of a wide, balanced, comprehensive and up-to-date collection of materials. A stimulating and helpful environment is provided so that the students enjoy reading experiences and are encouraged to use the library facilities for independent learning.

There is also a number of computers available for student use at all times. Students experience a dedicated library lesson each week with the school librarian and can also access the library during their lunch hour and with their class teachers when the library is available.

Canteen
Maria Regina Catholic School canteen is managed by a volunteer canteen coordinator who is supported by parent volunteers.

The school canteen is open on a Monday for lunch orders. There is a selection of sandwiches and some hot food available. Snacks are available at recess time. Friday at lunch time the canteen is open for the sale of ice blocks. The school canteen has a focus on promoting and serving healthy food options on its menu.
