Duncan Smith, Educational Consultant and Primary School Teacher from Mathletics spoke to the parents to inform them about the online mathematics programme that is being used here at Our Lady Help of Christians. Mathletics is a web site that users subscribe to enable them to have access to New South Wales Mathematics curriculum based activities that are motivational and adaptive to the individuals needs. The web site is used by more than 7000 schools world wide. Children at Our Lady Help of Christians have access to Mathletics at school and at home to reinforce and further inspire them as enthusiastic learners. 

The information session gave the parents the opportunity to hear and see more of the features that the programme provides for the children as well as methods that they can encourage and support their child at home.  

The annual Mathletics subscription for this year has been paid for by the Parents and Friends and has been a valuable addition to the Mathematics programme within the school. The programme allows the children to have the opportunity to revise and practice their mathematical skills and be motivated to improve their personal best.  

One of the key features of Mathletics is the Support Centre that is available for the children and parents to have access to support and encourage the children’s understanding of the task they are working on. This function allows the children to click and have access to examples and explanations of the concept that they are working on.
