The centrepiece of Catholic life and mission in Broken Bay Diocese is the call to Catholic Discipleship. It calls for an individual commitment realised in active membership of the Catholic Church, demonstrated by love, compassion, hope, reconciliation, transformation, prayer, respect for life and a desire to bring about justice for all.
Our Lady of the Rosary is an authentically Catholic school rich in symbols and actions associated with our Catholic faith. This is evident through the artwork, the provision of prayer space and the priority of prayer in the school’s daily life which supports and enhances the Church’s mission of evangelisation. Teachers, in their relationships with students, continually give witness to the gospel. We aim to work in partnership with parents who are the primary educators of their children and the creators of the environment in which their children first come to know and love God.
At OLOR we are immersed in Catholic tradition that demonstrates and articulates its commitment to:
-
grounding in a local Christian community centred on the person of Jesus and guided the Gospel
-
fostering of the total development of all its students
-
participating in the evangelising mission of the Church
-
assisting students to integrate their faith, their culture and their experiences of life
-
displaying a fundamental option for the poor and the weak
-
offering a service to individuals, society and the wider culture
Our Lady of the Rosary, as part of the Catholic community, educates and forms our students as disciples of Jesus. We offer quality education as an expression of the Catholic worldview which permeates the total school environment by offering a range of opportunities for students so that they may participate in the life of the Church and experience what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. It is present throughout the school in the relationships, in the symbols, in pastoral care, in daily rituals and routines, in celebrations, in policy making and in timetabling and it emanates from an understanding and appreciation of the Sacred Scriptures and the life and tradition of the Church. A multiplicity of opportunities exists for students at OLOR to celebrate their Catholic faith through:
-
Classroom Religious Education that follows the Broken Bay Diocese K-12 syllabus
-
School and class masses
-
School and class liturgies and prayers
-
The sacraments
-
Celebrations of special events
-
Retreats and reflection days
-
Community outreach programs
