Our Lady of the Rosary follows the syllabuses set down by the NSW Board of Studies. The areas of study are called Key Learning Areas (KLA). Catholic Schools have an additional KLA of Religious Education, which permeates and integrates into the whole school curriculum. Many of the Key Learning Areas integrate, however, learning outcomes are specific to each Key Learning Area.
At Our Lady of the Rosary we recognise that individual students develop at different rates. The Board of Studies has outlined benchmarks that children are expected to meet. The children work towards achieving these benchmarks at each stage.
The stages of development are as follows:
- Early Stage 1 (Kindergarten)
- Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2)
- Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4)
- Stage 3 (Years 5 and 6)
Parents are given the opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher in a formal interview twice a year. Further interviews can be arranged as required.
Parents are invited to attend information meetings regarding curriculum development within the school on a regular basis.
Curriculum: Key Learning Areas
We provide every student in our Catholic primary school with significant opportunities for learning in all seven Key Learning Areas. These experiences are planned in keeping with the stage of development and the potential of each individual student.
Learning Support
The school has a Learning Support Teacher and Learning Support Assistants who assist children with special needs within our school by working with teachers to implement individual education programs.
