In 1973, the parish of Wyoming came into existence.  It was centred on three and one half acres at North Gosford.  A church had already been built in 1966 to serve this area of rapid expansion catering mainly for young married couples.  Our new parish was officially proclaimed on October 1, 1973 – the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.  Consequently it was only fitting that she become patroness of our new Church community.

Discussions on the planning of the primary school immediately followed the building of the presbytery in November, 1974.  However, much planning and waiting for government grants meant that the foundations for stage one of the school did not commence until March 1977.  This stage one building was officially opened on Sunday April 16, 1978 by His Eminence Sir James Freeman.  At the time the school catered for 120 children. The school continued to grow with the addition of more classrooms, a Library and administration block. The school currently caters for over 300 children.

During the years the school has formed a very definite philosophy, one which proclaims the message of Christ.

Our school motto “Alive and Aware”, was one of the many submitted by the families of the children in 1980.  It is to be hoped that all children attending our school become fully alive in the spirit and aware of and grateful for their own God-given individual talents.

Our school badge, bearing this motto, is in the shape of a shield to remind us that Christ and His Word is our shield against harm.  In the centre is an open book depicting learning and the Bible which is the basis of our teaching.  Across the book are rosary beads symbolising our devotion to Mary, particularly under the title of Our Lady of the Rosary.  The cross of the rosary is centred in the book reminding us that Christ is the centre of our learning.
