Packing hampers for St Vincent de Paul

At Prouille we seek opportunities for our community to actively express their deep commitment to Gospel values such as human dignity, compassion, responsibility and service to others. Following are a few examples where the words of our Visioning Mission have been put into action. We believe it is through actions such as these that we truly live as disciples of Jesus.

Victorian Bushfire “Outreach”
Through the generosity of the Prouille Community, a total of approximately $1180 was raised and this was sent to the Catholic Education Commission in Melbourne following the devastating bushfires in Victoria.

Contact was later established with St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Alexandra, Victoria, which was affected by the bushfires. Many of the children from Prouille made Easter cards for the children of St Mary’s School. In connection with this, we also purchased cartons of Easter eggs that would enable every person within the school (students and staff) to receive an Easter egg.

The Principal, Mrs Brewer, sent a thank you note, expressing the joy that these gifts spread throughout the school community and a genuine appreciation of the thoughtfulness of the Prouille community.  It is through actions such as these that we truly live as disciples of Jesus!

St Vincent de Paul Society Christmas Appeal
Each year the Prouille school community aids the wonderful work performed by the St Vincent de Paul Society by donating Christmas gifts for needy families in Whalan (Western Sydney). The school is inundated with gifts which are then packed into hampers and delivered to those in need.

Fundraising for Candela Peru
This year approximately $2000 was raised for the women in the shanty-town of Candela, Peru, through the sales of their Peruvian handicrafts. The Sisters of Mercy in Peru have been able to provide a nutrition programme for the pre-school children in Candela and a medical centre has been built to provide much needed assistance for the families of the town.
