Prouille Monastery in Fanjeaux, France

Prouille School was founded by the Dominican Sisters in 1950 after the Dominican Fathers of the Holy Name Priory, Wahroonga, invited the sisters to establish a foundation in Holy Name Parish, Wahroonga.

On 6 January 1950 the home “Colwyn” at 23 Cleveland Street, Wahroonga, became Prouille Convent and School.

The school was conducted by the Dominican Sisters until 1989, when the first lay principal was appointed.

Prouille is the name of the small village near Fanjeaux in Southern France and is where St Dominic, in 1206, established the foundation monastery of the Dominican Sisters.
