Communications
St Bernard's utilises a range of communication avenues to ensure that all students, parents and members of the school community are kept informed.  These communication methods include:

  • fortnightly newsletters
  • an open school policy
  • daily morning assemblies
  • notes sent home with the children and
  • progress reporting

Class Parents
Parental involvement is vitally important and necessary to the life of the school.  We see it as building a partnership between parents, children and teachers, while supporting the faith and values we share as common beliefs.

Each class is looked after by a Class Parent who assists in arranging social events, fundraising activities and special occasions for the class.

Assembly
A short morning assembly is held at 8.55 a.m. each day.  Messages are relayed to classes at this time. Our Friday afternoon assembly at 2.30pm is particularly important as the week’s activities are outlined, merit cards and birthday cards are awarded and our National Anthem and school song are sung.  Parents and friends are welcome to join us at any assembly.

It is very important that children are at school before the 8.55 a.m. bell.

Music in the Hall
Twice a term, on a Friday afternoon, a whole school assembly is held called ‘Music in the Hall’  (M.I.H.).

At M.I.H. each class presents an item from their class program.

Canteen
The School Canteen is open from every day from1.00pm to 2.00pm.

On Monday the canteen is open for lunch orders, drinks, snacks and ice blocks. Lunch orders should be handed in at the commencement of the school day (in a clearly marked bag with payment).

On every other day the canteen is open for drinks, snacks and ice blocks. No lunch orders are available on these days.

The canteen is managed and staffed by volunteer parent help.

For further information, or if you have ideas for specific foods we could supply, please speak to the Canteen Ladies.
