Stage 1 Art Work Sample
an aboriginal perspective

The Creative Arts Key Learning Area includes the art forms of dance, drama, visual arts and music. Learning in these art forms provides opportunities for students to develop their abilities to create their own works, to appraise those works, and to appraise the works of others. Our specialist Music Teacher brings a rich experience to class lessons and performances.

In 2011 St Bernard's will also have a specialist dance teacher who will teach lessons to students in years K-2.

Dance classes focus on the development of physical skill as well as artistic and cultural understanding. The program encourages tolerance, diversity and empathy between students through expression of different points of view and interpretations.

Our professional dance teacher provides the students with the opportunity to think imaginatively and share ideas, feelings, values and attitudes, while physically and intellectually exploring the communication of ideas through movement.

The dance program allows students to showcase the work to their peers, family and the Parish.

They have the opportunity to perform for the wider community in fetes or celebrations.
