Admission to Kindergarten
There is one general admission to Kindergarten in May each year. Enrolments to Kindergarten and other classes are made following the guidelines set out in the Diocese of Broken Bay Enrolment Policy.
Admission to other years
Children are admitted to classes where there are positions available and in priority order as outlined in the Enrolment Policy.
Enrolment procedures
The procedure for enrolment application is:
- Obtain and complete application forms from the school
a. The Application for Enrolment
b. The Parish Form – “Statement of Faith Background”
- All forms should be returned to the school
- Make arrangements for an interview with the Principal.
- Make arrangements for a Kindergarten Screener for the child.
- Interview with Principal.
- Once all interviews have been conducted, the Parish Enrolment Committee will meet.
- Placement Offer/Acceptance of Offer - you will be informed by letter as to the Committee decision concerning your child’s enrolment
- There is a $25.00 Administration Fee payable upon Acceptance of Enrolment.
- There will be Orientation Sessions for incoming Kindergarten children and their parents during Term 4.
Essential requirements to be attached to this application for enrolment and forwarded to the school are: -
- Birth Certificate.
- Baptism/Sacramental Certificates. If you child is not a Catholic, please provide evidence/reference from your faith community.
- Immunization Certificate.
- Proof of residency status where this is legally required for a child born outside Australia.
- A Photocopy of current Custody Orders when family law court arrangements are in place.
- A photocopy of Medical/Educational assessments helpful to the school e.g. Hearing Tests, Speech Assessments, Behaviour Assessments, etc.
- Copy of Reports, Basic Skills Tests if applicable for all children other than Kindergarten.
Parents are becoming more and more aware of the importance of school readiness and are seeking advice in this difficult area. Our simple screener may identify some areas of immaturity. However, when considering enrolment for children who are young, e.g. April, May or even earlier birthdays, it is beneficial to have advice from those who have regular contact with the children eg at pre-school, speech clinics etc. If the numbers of applications exceeds the number of spaces available, priority will be given to older children.
As part of this process we find it beneficial to speak with the preschool/previous school attended by the child. We will ask for your permission to speak with the staff of the previous schools.
Included in the enrolment package is our School Information Booklet that will give information on various aspects of St. Cecilia’s Catholic School. Please take the time to read this at your leisure and if you have any questions please ask them during our interview.
Suburbs which generally ‘feed-in’ to St Cecilia’s are: Wyong, Kangy Angy, Palmdale, Tuggerah, Mardi, Yarramalong, Watanobbi, Tacoma, Tacoma, South, Rocky Point, Tuggerawong, Wadalba, Wyongah.
