Enrichment Programs
There are many enrichment opportunities at St Gerard’s for students to pursue interests and talents.
Chesalon Nursing Home Visits
Children with high interpersonal skills in Yrs 4-6 are selected to be a part of a special program where they extend their skills of ‘relating to others’. They visit the Chesalon Nursing Home twice a term and build up a reciprocal relationship with an older designated friend.
Children And Public Speaking (CAPS program)
Children from Years 2-6 participate in the CAPS program. There are several rounds and every child must compete in the first round. Talented speakers go on to higher rounds and winners compete with children beyond the school.
Maths Olympiad
The Maths Olympiad team is a talented group that works together on higher order and divergent problem solving. They individually compete in the International Maths Olympiad competition annually.
‘Come On Kids’
This is an independent online program which challenges talented maths students in a virtual classroom environment.
Science Challenge
Selected students meet together and work on a range of scientific investigations.
