At St Gerard’s our aim is for every child to be given the opportunity to learn as best they can and then strive for more. The school offers a well balanced and diverse curriculum and the teachers are committed to the education of the whole child. Whether it is literacy, mathematics or the sciences, sports or the arts, every child in our school has a chance to shine.
The children, who need extra support, benefit greatly from our early intervention approach to teaching. Those who need support in mathematics are assisted in a similar way.
Opportunities for talented students exist in Maths Olympiad and online classroom experiences such as ‘Come On Kids.’ Talented science students can join the Science Challenge team, artists are recognised through the ‘Artist of the Fortnight’ award system and the sporty students have many opportunities to represent the school at various levels in several sports.
All children are involved in public speaking. Aspiring musicians have opportunities to develop their talents through the junior and senior band and also participate in the school choir.
There are seven Key Learning Areas
The Broken Bay Diocesan Catholic Schools Office oversees our school curriculum and the six mandatory Key Learning Areas are set by the NSW Board of Studies. The Religious Education curriculum is set by the CSO.
