St Gerard’s is known as a good school with happy children and a caring, dedicated team of teaching and support staff. However as parents, making the very important decision about your child’s future education and wellbeing, you need to know more about the quality of St Gerard’s school community.
St Gerard’s is a faith community and as such promotes a Christ-centred education. We do this in partnership with parents and parish. Our focus is inspired by our school motto,” Growing in Wisdom and Faith.” This motto comes from our valued Mercy tradition which calls students, teachers and our community to embrace the values of; compassionate service, respect for others and the land, and to act with the spirit of Christian hospitality.
Under strong leadership, St Gerard’s is clearly focused on quality teaching and learning. The school provides a well balanced, comprehensive and engaging curriculum, which gives all children the opportunity to become life long learners. The core subjects of Literacy and Numeracy are given time priority in class. Enrichment and support programmes are in place to sustain the best possible learning for all children. Teachers engage students in learning experiences which are real and relevant to their future lives. Classroom technology is a tool for daily learning. The children thrive on the school sports and representative programs and they show equal enthusiasm for the band and choir opportunities available at St Gerard’s. The Library is place of learning where a love and appreciation of literature is paramount.
A strong sense of partnership is evident in our school community by the high level of parent involvement and the great spirit of hospitality shown by children, staff and fellow parents. At St Gerard’s, teachers and students work together to create a happy and safe classroom and playground, which we believe, is essential for a successful learning environment.
Enrolment enquiries are welcome. Please email the school office if you wish to speak with me about the St Gerard’s school community.
