At St John the Baptist Catholic School, parents are acknowledged as the primary educators of their children and are invited to enter into meaningful partnerships with the school and wider Woy Woy Peninsula Parish community. Each Wednesday a school newsletter is sent home with the eldest child from each school family which contains important information from the Principal, staff members, students and parents so that all members of the community are regularly informed of events and happenings.
Parents are encouraged to participate in the robust life of the school. This can include but is not restricted to participation in liturgies and masses, literacy block time, reading help, maths assistance, gross motor, physical education and other classroom initiatives.
At the beginning of each term, an overview of curriculum and extra curricula activities for each grade is sent home to the parents. At the beginning of the year a goal setting interview is scheduled for parents to meet with teachers to action plan goals related to individual children.
Throughout the year parents are able to visit the classrooms to view the students work and to see learning in action.
