Student welfare is paramount for a harmonious and productive school life. At St John the Baptist we abide by a Diocesan pastoral care policy with due consideration given to local circumstances and the families which we service. We have been blessed to have a dedicated student welfare officer who liaises with staff in overseeing the welfare of all students. From time to time children are affected by circumstances beyond their control. Such circumstances include but are not restricted to family breakup, separation, divorce, death and bankruptcy. In caring for the families in need our dedicated Family Liaison Officer usually touches base with the affected families to offer support and act as a referral service for family’s in need to get in touch with the relevant agencies. The student welfare officer and school counselor after parental permission usually then work with the children through the difficult periods.
The school offers Seasons for Growth, professional counseling and a Learning Assistance Program for children experiencing loss, separation, anxiety and grief.
