St. Kevin’s Catholic School is sensitive and responsive to the needs of the wider community. A class parent group was formed and meet once a term with the Principal and Family Liaison Officer to plan activities and review the past term. The Class Parents provide leadership for the community and also provide support to families in the school by welcoming new families, celebrating births and assisting families experiencing special needs.
Parents meet with the teachers regularly. They are invited into the classrooms for class prayer and to attend liturgies at school and in the parish church. Parents visit their children in the classrooms at the end of each term during Open Classroom Week to view and discuss the children’s work in the classroom setting.
Parents receive semester reports on their children’s learning mid-year and end of year. Following these reports mid-year, three way interviews are held with parent, child and teacher in attendance to discuss progress and learning goals for the remainder of the year. After the end of year reports are sent out, interviews are once again offered between parents and teachers.
Parents regularly attend the Monday and Friday Assemblies. Coffee mornings are held following Monday assemblies and Parent workshops are held with the Family Liaison Officer.
St Kevin’s is a culturally rich school with families from all over the world. Every family brings hope to our school community.
