Pastoral Care Structure

Tutor Teachers
Tutor Teachers meet daily with their Homeroom group. While attending to the administrative matters of the Tutor group, they are alert for the signs that students have problems or concerns. Tutor Teachers are an important and significant reference person for students in helping them cope with many of the issues of adolescence and schooling.

Year Co-ordinator
T
he Year Co-ordinator has responsibility to monitor school policies, procedures and practices to ensure that they are congruent with pastoral care aims and guidelines, and that they contribute positively to students welfare and development.

Director of Pastoral Care
The Pastoral Care Co-ordinator has a responsibility for the overall daily operation of pastoral care at the College.

College Counsellor
The College Counsellor is available to all students and to parents to discuss matters of concern. The Counsellor usually interviews all new students so that the student has a chance to discuss the anxieties that attach to starting at a new school.

The matters discussed between students and the Counsellor are kept entirely confidential, the Counsellor acting entirely separately from the discipline processes of the College, and not referring students on to others for this purpose.

The Counsellor is, however, available should students require support in discipline interview situations.

College Chaplain
The Parish Chaplain Father Jim McKeon is based at the new Waitara Cathedral and is frequently involved in all religious celebrations and is a constant presence at the College.

Youth Minister
With special responsibility for the formation and spiritual development of students, the Youth Minister will play a key role in the student welfare offerings of the College.

Director of Senior School
The Director of Senior School is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating College policies, programs, and practices that are directed towards the development and wellbeing of senior students in Years 10 to 12.

Deputy Principal and Director of Middle School
The Deputy Principal has responsibility, delegated from the Principal, for developing, implementing and evaluating College policies, programs, and practices that are directed towards the development and wellbeing of students. The Deputy holds the dual role of Director of Middle School and is responsible for the overall wellbeing of students in Years 7-9.
