Serving as a Disciple

A Way of Being

…in touch with the hospitality of God.

Contemplative Process

In receiving the gift of faith in Jesus Christ, we are welcomed into the heart of God, whose hospitality offers us a ‘home’ in which we can grow into the persons God created us to be. This gift of unconditional love, of being at home with God enlarges our hearts and moves us to be as hospitable as God in our service of others.

Scripture Passages

Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honour. Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers.

Romans 12:9-13

Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God

Romans 15:7:1

Let mutual love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it

Hebrews 13:2

Be hospitable to one another without complaining. Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received. Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

1 Peter 4:9-11

Questions for Reflection
