Serving as a Disciple

Ways of Doing

Working from shared human values draws people into collaborative action

Process for Engagement

One of the challenges of the church today is the engagement of all the baptised. Many of these ministries proved that when you work from shared human values, drawing on the natural capacity for love you can engage the many.

These ministries often reached across boundaries, engaging the baptised who participate in Sunday worship and those that do not, those that profess Christian faith and those of other faiths.

These projects often started as an initiative of the faith community and have grown into a project that is embraced by the community at large. In this way the work of the church is advanced by the people of God for the benefit of all.

Because of its common origin the human race forms a unity, for “from one ancestor (God) made all nations to inhabit the whole earth” Acts 17:26. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 360)

This law of human solidarity and charity, without excluding the rich variety of personas, cultures and peoples assures us that all men are truly brethren (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 361)

All people feel the interior impulse to love authentically: love and truth never abandon them completely, because these are the vocation planted by God in the heart and mind of every human person (Caritas in Veritate,1)
