Safeguarding Month in the Diocese of Broken Bay

On 31 August 2017, the community of Broken Bay will gather to mark the beginning of Safeguarding Month.

On 31 August 2017, the community of Broken Bay will gather at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, Waitara for a Liturgy of Compassion and Commitment, a liturgy that will mark the beginning of Safeguarding Month in the Diocese of Broken Bay.

Last year we gathered under the calling of Lament and Hope, in acknowledgement of the pain caused by abuse of our most vunerable in our communities, and the lack of action by some of our leaders.

We need to come together as a community to acknowledge suffering, to give public expression to our sorrow, to seek forgiveness, to make a public commitment to change, and to draw hope from the encounter with our merciful God.

Throughout September the agencies of Broken Bay, CatholicCare, Catholic Schools Office, Chancery Offices and Parishes, will be promoting or participating in a number of scheduled events.
